National Puppy Day

March 23 is National Puppy Day. Who doesn’t love a puppy?!?! Many clients have dogs or cats that live indoor with them. If you have a pet, then you also have to think about where to feed them, where to store a crate or bed and where to store extra food and supplies. Here’s a few ideas.

1. Allocate a space in your laundry room for the dog crate to stay. Perhaps pushed underneath the countertop in order to open up floor space.

2. Build a nook into the end of your island or a window seat for a dog bed to sit.

3. Add a shelf in the end of the island or a pull-out drawer to house dog bowls. This keeps you from accidentally kicking them as you walk across the room.

PRO TIP: if you add a recessed nook in the end of your island for dog bowls, line the surface with the same material as your countertop to protect it from errant water splashing, dog food and drool. Consider building in cabinets in your garage to store extra pet supplies.

4. Consider building in cabinets in your garage to store extra pet supplies.

5. Incorporate a pull-out container for dog food in the mudroom. Make sure it includes a tight closing lid to keep pets and bugs out and the smell in.
